SPRING SING NIGHT
RAISE YOUR VOICE WITH AN INCREDIBLE BARBER SHOP CHORUS IN CENTRAL/NORTHERN NEW JERSEY!
We’ve heard it said that singing in public, to many people, is one of the scariest things imaginable. Well, we don’t buy it! We’ve also heard experts say that, simply, everyone has the same equipment, the voice as a musical instrument, and we can all use it to sing. And we doubled down by adding another chorus to the Hunterdon Harmonizers! Vocal Synergy started last Fall with a purpose of holding events where EVERYONE can sing, and do so without the fear of doing it in front of an audience.
Join in our upcoming “Spring Sing” nights where you have the opportunity to meet other singers and test drive a few fun songs. All voices, from soprano to bass, are welcome! The evenings will be led by some of the most esteemed choral directors in the area. A great opportunity to sing modern arrangements with other talented singers. We have singers that had never sung in a choir before to those with music degrees - but you wouldn't know who is who when you see us perform!
What will we sing? For this year’s Group Sing Nights, the Hunterdon Choral Alliance has opted for several stand out songs that you likely already sing along to with the car radio!: You’ll surely recognize pop songs like “Africa”, “Country Roads” and the Beach Boys. We’ll also sing soundtrack favorites such as “This is Me”, “Pure Imagination”, “Impossible Dream”, “Over the Rainbow” and “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”.
Could I Sing in Public too? Sure! Vocal Synergy and the Hunterdon Harmonizers will be performing these songs several times through the summer and fall. You are free to attend rehearsals with the chorus and join in the fun. The choruses may ask you to take part in a simple vocal assessment to see how well your singing voice will blend with the chorus. We look forward to singing with you no matter how far you decide to continue!
Do I Need Experience Singing in a Choir? Nah! You will be side by side with experienced a cappella singers and newbies alike. There are no auditions for Spring Sing and no requirements that you have prior singing experience or that you can read sheet music. While these are great, they are not a prerequisite. The night is designed for those that are familiar with choral singing and those that might be singing in a group for the first time.
