HH,
Congrats to the Hunterdon
Symphony and Herr Mozart (a.k.a. our own Pat Cerillo) for an outstanding
performance last Saturday to a sold-out crowd at N.H.H.S. Many HH were in
attendance.
Beginning with our 1/31
meeting, we will be practice RECORDING, right in our own hall.
Many thanks to Bob B. and Alden for getting this set up.
We will also be
introducing our next song - I'll Fly Away. Back
in the late '90's, this was a popular spiritual enjoyed by all HH. The
Music Team thought that a revival of it at this time would be practical.
It will serve as a selection on our new CD, as well as a vehicle which
can be used in the general repertoire and especially during Summer Church Sing
season.
For 1/31, our repertoire
songs for review will include:
Please review these ahead
of time for notes and words. In general, repertoire songs will be worked
two weeks in a row, and then rotated back into the schedule after 3 weeks
"off".
Of course, we will also
be hitting the following during the 1/31 evening, as approaching soon are Singing
Valentines and the first CD recording (in March)
1. Let Me Call You
Sweetheart (with intro)
2. Heart of My Heart
3. An American Trilogy (for
the CD)
4. Over the Rainbow
(for the CD)
Last week, we reinstitued a weekly rehearsal feature called, Performance
Package. This is intended to be a wrap-up to the night, where the HH
and/or quartets will present 3 repertoire songs as if it were a show.
It will begin shortly after 10:15pm. Our guests for the night will
be the audience. We'll have emcees for the evening, and talking between
songs will not be allowed.
The Performance
Package for 1/31 includes:
1. Dream (Intro by
Ron Newsom)
2. Quartets on
Valentine Songs (Intro by Lee Roth)
3. Paper Doll (tag) (Intro by Father Mozart)
(Please get into the
habit of scanning this email for your name - you may be scheduled to give an
intro!)
Craft Sessions will be taught most weeks.
1/24 - Singable consonants
1/31 - Continuity of tone
from word to word
2/06 - Introduction to
the 16 vowel sounds (The 12 vowel sounds include: ee, ih, aye, eh, ae, ah, aw, oh, oo (book), oo (moon),
Diphthongs:

Last week, y'all
completed a Music Team survey, soliciting your feedback on our current
repertoire and inviting you to provide additional input for the future.
We'll hear a readout from Rusty.
This will provide useful input to the Music Team as it plans for the future.
